This conversation is going to be a bit about perimenopause/menopause but more so about a revelation I had and ways of thinking that really help me stay on track as far as my health and fitness.
I’m pursuing and thinking more about Perimenopause and menopause when it comes to my health and wellbeing. I feel like I need to know more and go deeper because my body needs more from me right now. I feel like I have gone another step into this journey. And so I’m exploring more ways to support my body through this transition. And remember, I’m a fitness coach, which means I’m a guide. I’m a foundation or a spark that hopefully gets you interested. So you can go deeper yourself and then understand what you are going through. Because part of what makes me successful is that I’m curious. I want to know more. I want to know how to support myself better.
And so that’s where I feel like I fit in this fitness industry. I’m laying a foundation for you. We need to have a solid foundation in order to build, right? Sometimes we might try to go from zero to ten and skipping everything in the middle. But then It might be harder for you to stick with because you skipped all the beginning steps and so I’m going to be giving you the foundational steps. And then it’s up to you to then go. Okay, this is interesting. I want to know more about this. Like I am like I’m nudging you. I’m the one that gives you the little push out of the nest. But Then it’s up to you to fly.
And like I said, as I’m going deeper into perimenopause, and thinking about, what does my body need from me? And I feel as women there’s so much yet to be explored. You know, women are not studied as much as men in fitness, health, nutrition exercise, all of that. We’re not studied as much, period. So, a lot of what’s out there mostly comes from studies on men. And we women are different.
So what does my body need from me? This way of thinking is another part of why I have success with myself and fitness especially in this time of my life navigating through perimenopause. And I was thinking more about that as far as what human beings need to be successful.
And that’s something I want to talk about and is the third reason why this process works for me. I talk a lot about ways of thinking and how that affects us. So first I’m curious, then I ask what my body needs from me and then how can I put all of this into a way of thinking that moves me forward.
When we think about diets it’s usually a negative thought process. It’s all about restricting, I can’t eat that or I shouldn’t do that. What if we instead think, What I can do, what should I be doing for my body, what does my body need from me? What should I give it to fuel it so that it can be at its best in this world?
And the more I think about that, I mean really think about instead of all this can’t can’t and negativity, which is depressing and sad and who wants to live like that? Who wants to live in a world where we’re just telling ourselves, we can’t all the time.
That’s the way most of us think when we think about being healthy. We think about I can’t. Here are all the things I can’t do. Instead of thinking about, I want to fuel my body so that my body works in the best way. I actually think of my body as a separate entity. Like it’s my child. I want to give my child the best I can. I want to give my body the best I can. And what does it need? What does my body need? My body needs nutrients. My body needs food. My body needs movement.
But on top of that and to add to that. Because we want to magnify positivity. Magnifying what is helpful is crucial to success. So with that in mind Here is something new I was thinking about today. What humans need to not only exist but to thrive. We need to exist in a way where we can contribute and help and build and create, that’s how humans are meant to be. We are progressive, creative beings. So if we’re living in a state of growing it’s just a better place and a more natural place to be. I can give myself this. I should give myself that. Instead of living in a tearing down restricting mindset. I truly believe in positive reinforcement In the long run and is what really works better for us.
Humans are made to create. Humans are made to expand. Humans are made to build and grow and live. Living, breathing, existing. And so we need to treat our bodies like we are living, breathing, existing growing helping fueling. Instead of taking away and tearing down, restricting, withholding. That’s what the diet industry is. I can’t. And that why we are not succeeding.
Because that’s negative and who wants to live like that. That’s no fun. You wake up every day and go well great, I can’t. Instead of waking up everyday and going, yes, I can. I can give my body this amazing protein, these amazing fruits and vegetables. And then I can notice my body looking and feeling great!
Process that for a bit. Think about ways that you can tell yourself you can. You can grow, you can build, you can achieve, you can smile, you can have fun! This shouldn’t only apply to health and fitness but to your whole life. We could talk about this for days. How can you be creative in other parts of your life? In your job, with your kids, your partner with your hobbies. How can you grow in all ways in your life? So add to that. What else can you do?
