When you want to make a change in your life you need a strong motivator. Sometimes it is hard to say I want to lose weight, I want to make more money, I want to be a better person, etc. and then actually accomplish what you want. If you don’t have a really strong feeling about it, you will not be as likely to make that change. When you get to the point where you are so frustrated about your situation that you will not accept anything else for yourself, changes will have to come. I had this happen yesterday when I took a ballet class. I just started taking classes again after having my son who is now 9 months old. My body is out of shape as far as being a dancer is concerned. I have been working out consistently for months now but the muscles that are needed for dancing are not always the ones that I exercise. So I am trying to get back into shape as a dancer.
Yesterday I was in class and just having a difficult time. A little background about me and my body is that I am a very high strung person, to say it nicely, and so I overdo many things. I can’t just let things happen I have to make them happen. This is something that I struggle with on a daily basis. Not only do I become stressed but my body becomes very tense. So when I am trying to dance I get so tense that nothing works.
After class I was very frustrated. I had that voice in my head say, “This is it! I need to make a change now!” There are no more excuses. So I am practicing relaxing all the time. I am practicing right now as I am typing. I practice when I walk, hold my son, brush my teeth. I will conquer this so I can go to a dance class and actually enjoy myself and just dance.
What does this mean if you are trying to get healthy? Sometimes frustration can be good. When you become so frustrated with your body or your eating and exercise habits you will make changes. Not only will you make changes but they will be easy to put into practice.
